Filipa Teixeira is a Master in Bioengineering (MSc) at the University of Porto, Portugal. Her field of studies is Molecular Biotechnology. Before joining the COMPASS group, Filipa worked as a research intern in the University Medical Centrum (UMCG) at the University of Groningen, Netherlands for 5 months under Erasmus+ programme, where she focused on the development of light-triggered and bio-engineered anti-microbial hydrogels. Afterwards, she did her master thesis entitled “Establishment of a heterotypic 3D breast cancer model based on a vascularized porous scaffold combined with an epithelial cell-laden hydrogel” under the supervision of Dr. Sílvia Bidarra and Dr. Cristina Barrias, at Bioengineered 3D Microenvironments Group, at i3s.
Currently, her work is focused on the production of 3D+ microcapsule platforms for large-scale laboratory evaluation of novel combinatorial therapies for pancreatic cancer.
