João Abreu Pereira has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Beira Interior. In the master’s, João pursued his career in the University of Aveiro on Biomedical Materials and Devices. In his master thesis, he worked at the Department of Materials at the University of Aveiro and in the Institute of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Oslo, in the characterization of dental cements by computed tomography techniques, where the handling of the Nano-CT technique played a key role.
Currently, João Abreu Pereira is a PhD student at the COMPASS group, where he is developing double-network hydrogels of different biocompatible materials and at the same time, he is working with anti-microbial films for orthopedic implants.
João enjoys to play futsal in his free-times. Also loves to read classics and has as a favorite book “Mother” from Maxim Gorki.
