Gonçalo Bourgeois completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Aveiro, where he conducted his undergraduate research on “Light Spectral Composition Regulates Tissue Regeneration and Photosymbiosis in Pre-Bleached Corals.”
He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at the same institution. After a few months learning several techniques as a volunteer, he decided to join COMPASS research group to undertake his dissertation project. His work focuses on remodeling ultrathin aqueous biphasic system membranes to overcome diffusion and vascularization barriers in self-organizing cellular aggregates, an initiative that aligns with his strong interest in bioengineering solutions.
Outside of research, Gonçalo’s main goal is to live life to the fullest by integrating travel, exercise, and spending time with family and close friends, important foundations that help maintaining his motivation to pursue science.
