Marco Esteves is a new member of the COMPASS group, who graduated in Biochemistry at University of Aveiro, in 2017. The aim of his final graduation project was to synthetize and characterize new porphyrin-imidazole derivatives, that could be used be used as photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy against bacterial infections. Currently, as a master student in Clinical Biochemistry, he is working on his thesis, aiming to develop an injectable bioadhesive nanoparticle-hydrogel hybrid to treat osteoarthritis. His main areas of scientific interest are tissue regeneration/engineering, drug delivery systems and diseases. Spending time with family and friends, hiking and camping are some of his main free time activities.
