Mariana Oliveira received her PhD (2014) and MSc (2010) in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho. During her PhD, she focused on the application of patterned superhydrophobic surfaces as platforms for the high-throughput screening of biomaterials and construction of cellular-based structures. Currently, as a researcher at the Compass RG – CICECO (University of Aveiro), her main research efforts are targeted at the development of multicellular strategies for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Moreover, she also works on the development of multifunctional biomaterials for tissue engineering and stem cell differentiation. Mariana nourishes a healthy obsession for music, and loves cooking and hiking.
