The Researcher Award University of Aveiro (UA) aims at highlighting the research work carried out at the University and at recognizing, annually, the excellence of the Researcher or Research Team whose work has stood out, at national or international level.

Sixteen applications were submitted in the first edition of the UA Researcher Award. Prof. João Mano was the researcher awarded with this distinction. The certificate was handed by the Rector of the University of Aveiro, during the commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the institution.

This initiative aims to contribute to developing the University’s strategy for consolidating the research culture and promoting scientific research of excellence. Moreover, it publicly recognizes lecturers and researchers who, individually or as a team, have contributed most significantly to this outcome, while alerting other researchers to this perspective. During the award ceremony Prof. João F. Mano referred the particular relevance of this award as an important sign of recognition from his own institution, sharing this distinction with all members of the research group.
