Paulo Nunes holds a BSc (2017) and MSc (2019) in Biochemistry from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). In April 2025, he concluded his PhD in Chemical and Biological Sciences at the same institution. His PhD research focused on the development of materials for electrochromic and thermotropic smart windows through sol-gel synthesis, aiming to enhance energy efficiency in smart buildings.
Currently, Paulo is a Junior Researcher at the COMPASS Research Group, where his work involves designing functional biomaterials based on marine polysaccharides to support photosynthetic systems for sustainable energy generation (O2 and Formic Acid) and to provide in situ oxygen sources for hypoxic tissue cultures.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, practicing sports, and playing video games.
