Enabling precision chemical methodologies applied to natural-based systems for the development of multifunctional biomedical devices

The CHEM2NATURE Twinning EU project aims at strengthening the coordinator’s research and innovation performance in the field of advanced chemical modification/characterization of natural-origin polymeric materials towards the development of next-generation multifunctional devices for addressing biomedical and healthcare needs. Such goals will be measured in terms of enhancing R&I capacity and raising the scientific staff’s research profile, increasing the number of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals of high-impact factor and quality in the Chemistry field and generation of intellectual property, as well as enhancing the participation in national and European R&I funding programmes. To this aim, the CHEM2NATURE project intends to establish an international training and scientific collaborative long-lasting network comprising UMINHO (coordinator), three internationally-leading European research institutions (UAVR, UoW and EPFL), and an Asian one (KAIST), that intends to boost the generation of technologies amenable to be used in the generation of next-generation biomedical devices. To this goal, CHEM2NATURE project proposes the joint organisation of events (e.g. summer schools, workshops, symposia, international conferences) and short-term exchange of senior researchers and staff, aiming at training actions and execution of scientific work in the scope of ongoing scientific projects.
