Rita graduated in Genetics and Biotechnology at UTAD. In 2015, she received her master’s degree in Biophysics and Bionanosystems from the University of Minho, Portugal, which was performed in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain. In 2021, she concluded the Ph.D. in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, and Stem Cells also at University of Minho, which was performed in collaboration with the University of Florence, Italy. During these years, her research has been centered on the development of ECM (decellularized)-based or polymeric-based materials for regenerative purposes and in vitro models.
Currently, she is a Junior Researcher at COMPASS group. Her research interests include biofabrication and development of new protein-based inks for 3D printing and directed cellular differentiation.
