Ana Luisa Salgado completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Aveiro, where she conducted her undergraduate research on “Bioengineering Programmable Living Materials with Pluripotent Features for Tissue Repair” for her bachelor’s project. As of now, she is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Biochemistry at the same institution. For her final year, she decided to join the COMPASS research group to undertake her dissertation project, which focuses on developing cellular hydrogels (“cellgels”) for modeling human diseases in vitro, an endeavor that aligns with her strong interest in tissue engineering and biomedical innovation.
Outside of her research, Ana values a balanced lifestyle that blends physical activity and social connection, always making time for practicing exercise and connecting with her friends throughout the week, finding these moments essential for recharging and maintaining perspective during intense periods of study.
