Ana Rita Sousa is a PhD Student at the COMPASS group, where she is developing biomaterials to encapsulate pancreatic cells for diabetes mellitus treatment. She obtained her Biomedical Sciences degree (2016) at the University of Beira Interior and her Master degree in Oncology (2018) at the University of Porto. During her master studies, she worked at the I3S/INEB under the supervision of Professor Bruno Sarmento and Professor Maria José Oliveira, where she developed biocompatible biomaterials to perform targeted gene delivery for metastatic colorectal cancer treatment. She enjoys a good movie, the nature and being with friends and family.
