Beatriz Guapo Neves holds an Integrated Master’s in Biological Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico. She completed her MSc thesis at KU Leuven’s Stem Cell Institute (Belgium), studying the role of the Xrcc1 gene in BM-HPSCs using CRISPR-Cas9.
Beatriz has experience as a Research Fellow at iCBR and CNC-UC, where she established hiPSC cultures and differentiated them into endothelial and retinal pigment epithelial cells. She has also worked with cancer cell lines, such as glioblastoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and osteosarcoma. In the beginning of 2023, she joined the Compass Group to study mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their secretome. After a 6-month position in a Silicon Valley (USA) biotech company, she returned to Compass as a PhD student, focusing on the application of MSC secretome in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
In her free time, Beatriz enjoys sports, cooking, travel, and spending time with friends and family.
