Carolina began her BSc in Biotechnology at the University of Aveiro in 2021.
During her degree, she joined Scientific Junior Value, a science-focused junior enterprise, where she coordinated events, specifically in the biomaterials field. She was also active in student representation, serving as vice-president for Educational Policy at her local students’ union (AAUAv) and sitting on the University of Aveiro’s Pedagogic Council. She continues that advocacy work at a broader level, representing Portuguese students at European level.
Carolina finished her Bsc in 2024 and moved straight into a MSc in Biomaterials and Nanomedicine, also at UA. On her master’s thesis, she is now developing microgels aimed at supporting endothelial cell expansion for 3D bioprinting.
Outside the lab, she’s passionate about students’ rights advocacy, loves music, travelling and her favorite thing is hanging out with her friends at a sunny terrace near the beach.
