Marlene Correia completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry in 2020, followed by a Master’s in Biochemistry with minor in Clinical Biochemistry in 2022, both from the University of Aveiro. For her master’s thesis, she focused on characterizing the exometabolome of human adipose-derived stem cells during osteogenic differentiation using NMR metabolomics. Since then, she has worked as a research fellow, studying devitalized biomaterials with immunomodulatory properties. This area will continue to be the focus of her PhD work, where she aims to apply these biomaterials to diabetes treatment.
Outside the lab, Marlene enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and camping.
