João Borges was elected Chemistry Europe Fellow (Class of 2022/2023) for his exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions to Chemistry Europe through his scientific research, support, creativity and innovation, and for his service and dedication to at least one member society.

Founded in 1995, Chemistry Europe is an association that brings together 16 chemistry societies from 15 European countries, representing more than 75,000 chemists. It publishes a family of highly prestigious scientific journals in the field of chemistry, covering a wide range of disciplines, and the scientific news periodical ChemistryViewsChemistry Europe supports its members at all stages of their careers as they seek solutions to solve challenges that impact humanity.

Established in 2015 and awarded every two years to a new class of Fellows at the biannual European Chemical Society (EuChemS) Chemistry Congress, the Chemistry Europe Fellows Program honors exceptional members of the Chemistry Europe societies for their outstanding achievements and contributions to Chemistry Europe and their service to at least one member society.

João will be honored, together with the other Chemistry Europe Fellows belonging to the Class of 2022/2023, at the upcoming 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress which will take place from 7-11th July 2024 in Dublin, Ireland. He will receive a certificate and retain the designation as Chemistry Europe Fellow for life.
