Prof. João Mano was awarded with the FEMS EUROPEAN MATERIALS GOLD MEDAL, by the Federation of European Materials Societies.
The European Materials Gold Medal is the most prestigious award of the Federation of European Materials Societies – FEMS (https://www.fems.org/). Established in 1993, the European Materials Medal is awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of Materials Science and Engineering and presented at the biennial FEMS EUROMAT Conference, which is held in odd years. As the winner of the latest FEMS European Materials Gold Medal, Prof. João Mano presented the opening plenary lecture at the 2023 FEMS EUROMAT conference, in Frankfurt on Sept 3, 2023.
The responsibility for the selection of the winner rested with the FEMS Award Selection Committee, followed a nomination of Prof. João Mano by the Portuguese Society for Materials – SPM.
