Rita Almeida, a postdoctoral researcher at COMPASS RG/CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials (COMPASS Research Group), has been awarded the Early Career Investigator Prize by the International Society for Biofabrication (ISBF). This distinction recognizes early-career scientists who demonstrate exceptional creativity and scientific excellence in biofabrication, placing her among the most promising researchers worldwide in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
The ISBF is the leading international organization dedicated to advancing biofabrication, promoting research, education, and collaboration among scientists, engineers, and clinicians worldwide.
“Receiving this award at this stage of my career is both an honor and a motivation,” said Rita Sobreiro-Almeida, emphasizing that the distinction reflects not only her individual work but also that of the partners, students, and mentors who have accompanied her throughout her scientific journey. “The award reinforces that I am moving in the right direction and gives me confidence to continue building my independent research path.”
The researcher also highlighted that this achievement goes beyond personal recognition: “Beyond personal success, it encourages me to actively contribute to the biofabrication community and to develop ideas that can have a real impact.”
This ISBF award adds to other recent recognitions, such as the 2025 TERMIS SYIS-EU Impact Award and the CICECO Young Scientist Award 2024, further establishing Rita Sobreiro-Almeida as one of the most promising young researchers in the field.
Congratulations, Rita!
